Faith....Trust....Believe

Life. You never know what God has in store for you. In my own life I have faced many situations that I thought, "God this isn't the way it was supposed to be." And I can almost hear Him say, "Sweet girl, it's not what you planned but it is My plan and see how I have set you up to succeed through it. I will carry you through."
Sunday morning I was hit with this question in Sunday School, "what is your deepest desire." Everyone sort of hummed and looked down at the floor to think about this question and their response. But I knew the answer and spit it out before the question was hardly out of the facilitator's mouth. My deepest desire is for my children to know and love Jesus Christ as their savior and to follow the path that He has laid out for them.
Sometimes prayers go unanswered for long, long periods of time....sometimes they are answered in the blink of an eye.
Mosaic Down Syndrome. Ever heard of it? Well that is what we believe God has carefully placed in our laps. A year full of questions, concerns, thoughts, prayers, research, thinking everything was normal and then not normal again. The doctor finally decided to do a blood test to confirm what we believe to be true; although will not be 100% sure of this diagnosis until the results come back in about 2 weeks.
So what does mosaic down syndrome look like? Sometimes you don't even see physical characteristics of downs in children with mosaicism. Most likely ours looks like this:

Pretty adorable right? Isaiah 44:24 : Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth all alone,"

Psalm 139:13 : You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. (NLT)

Just like an artist takes pieces of broken discarded glass and makes a beautiful mosaic art piece, our God puts us together and and steps back and is pleased with His work. Thank you Lord for our two masterpieces you have placed in our trust here on earth.
I am so relieved that Lane is Jesus', if this is true and he has mosaic down syndrome, then we will not have to worry about his salvation one little bit. Just the cruel world that we often live in.

What is mosaic down syndrome? Simply put it is an extremely rare form of downs only like 5% of people who have downs have mosaic downs, and usually it is not diagnosed until between the ages of 1-4years. It basically means that not all of his chromosomes are doubled like in Trisomy 21, where they are all duplicated. If he does have mosaic down syndrome then some of his chromosomes are normal like ours and some are duplicated like downs. The severity of his delays will depend on the percentage of his cells that are duplicated....so if 12% are duplicated then he will be very high functioning but if 50% are duplicated then he will be lower functioning. We will not know the percentages until the blood results come back in 2 weeks.

Oh how I absolutely adore this little boy and I am extremely humbled and in awe that Jesus placed him in our care.
We welcome any questions from anyone. We would rather you ask something that you worry may offend us than discuss things with others or just not ask at all. Jon and I are pretty open people. You can also visit these sites http://www.imdsa.org/ .... http://www.ndss.org/
